Once the Valley of Pozze, the valley, dominated from the Three Powers (1940 m above sea level), is known today as Valley of Light. The great wealth of water does create pools from which the ancient name of the valley, namely small ponds during the winter freeze, creating as mirrors to dot the valley. In 1935 the area was purchased by Lapo Farinati, first Podesta of the newly established municipality of Abetone. Aiming to create a great tourist center that interested the whole valley, Farinati launched a project that involved the construction of a large hotel, with different dependencies, slopes and ski lifts, a lake for ice skating and even a racetrack and a circuit automotive. High up on the ridge, was a rise tower illuminated by a large lighthouse, which would have made the Valley of Pozze Val di Luce. The work began in the summer of 1935, but were interrupted by World War II, they were no longer taken. The Valley of Light is now a major ski center: There are 6 lifts to a potential hourly transport over 10,000 pers. / H using 3 quad chairs (Three Powers, Mount Elbow and Sprella), 1 chairlift three seats (Step Hannibal) and 2 lifts (Abetina and Joker). It has over 14 km of perfectly groomed slopes (thanks to a fleet provided by 6 groomer 3 with winch) and of all levels of difficulty, allowing them to meet the needs of all skiers.
