the suspended bridge
Suspended Bridge on the River Lima is Mammiano Basso. It was opened in 1922, is 220 meters long and reaches a height in his point greater than 40 metres. It is one of the longest pedestrian bridges of World. Made with steel cables anchored with large chains boulders of concrete, side of the connecting rods that make it more secure, off less than a meter. Today the bridge is a major tourist destination, but when it was built was a very useful short cut for those who had to cross the valley, for example, was very useful for the workers who had to reach the establishment of Campotizzoro. The idea to create a bridge was Vincent Douglas, director at the SMI, and within two years the bridge was built and opened.
